PROGRESSIVE DEVELOPMENT
"Progress is gauged by the expansion of our capacity to
love."
Foundation ~ Principles ~ Implementation

1. FOUNDATION - THE HEART
Context - Enhancing Personal Experience of LIfe
- PURPOSE
- The purpose of
discussing Progressive Development is to increase our understanding
of
the Vision, Reasoning, Goals, Definitions, Principles, Implementation
and
Methods of
Achievement towards the prototyping and developing of an exemplary
model for a true New World Community.
- Progressive Development is important because
it
"promotes Spiritual Unity by encouraging those personal, interpersonal,
cultural, political, economic and environmental expressions and
behaviors which best serve the individual, the collective and the world
as a whole."
- VISION
- An Exemplary
Model for a True New World Community
- "The
most precious treasure we possess is our capacity to love. Our Vision
needs to be centered on this treasure and displayed by the nurturing
care of ourselves, each other and all of life. It has been said the
realization of Spiritual Unity (Love) is the ultimate fulfillment of
life. Spiritual Unity (Love)
is the antidote to fear. Therefore, every
aspect of society must support and be geared in this supreme
direction."
- "It is time to plan, implement and maintain a
complete
spiritual-socio-economic system, a new way of living which acknowledges
humanity, protects the environment, cares for all life and allows all
to grow physically, mentally and spiritually. This is the direction we
must now take."
- REASONS
- The Philosophy of Work
- How Work Works - and Why it Doesn't.
- Why do People Work?
- Motivation - Genuine or Unreal?
- Revolutions are Caused by Dissatisfied Workers
- GOALS
- The Primary Goal of Community Building is
to maintain an Optimal Environment for men and women to fulfill their
ultimate purpose
- also the Sufi purpose - of Truly Knowing a Loving God and Serving
Humanity in a manner appropriate for the Time.
- DEFINITIONS
- The Importance of the Role of Love
in the
development of a Human Society is fully explained in the following
writings on What Do We
Mean by Progress? and What is Progressive
Development? It
is further elucidated in his commentaries on the Six Spokes of
Progressive Development and the Six Spokes of Sustainable
Society.
- The Discovery of Progressive
Development
and
the
Importance of the Role of
Love
was expressed beautifully in a Thursday night satsang (3-30-07)
by Chuck.
- Part 1:
The Importance of the Role of Love
was discovered and elucidated by Murshid and Chuck while working with
the Progress Agency in New York during the time of the UN Report on the
results of the mandated study on the imact of the economy on the
environment. All materialist and ideological philosophies were
covered
but there was no hint of any representation of the human factor, no
'neo-humanism.' (1) Chuck had
been working
to involve PROUT into global
thinking.
- What Do We Mean
by "Progress"?
- Progress is gauged by a palpable feeling
of a consistent expansion of one's Capacity to Experience Love.
- What IS Progress?
- "Progress is that which leads to spiritual
attainment. The realization of spiritual unity (love) is the supreme
goal of life, its ultimate fulfillment. Growth towards this spiritual
goal occurs as a transformation of consciousness from ignorance to
enlightenment. The intentional participation in this process is known
as the practice of spirituality. The link between all religions,
cultures and civilizations is the unending search for fulfillment and
unconditional love.
"Humanity's underlying common goal, common
desire is Spiritual Unity - Peace, Love and Cooperation. Therefore,
Progress can be recognized and measured only by the increasing degree
of Love, Devotion and Cooperative Spirit that human beings realize in
the care of each other and all of life. No indicator of wealth or power
is a true measure of the health or well-being of an individual or a
society, and therefore, is not a true measure of progress. Those
practices, products and services that facilitate society moving toward
Spiritual Unity, while integrating economic, political and
environmental requirements, are Progressive.
"Society is a single multi-dimensional entity,
and this realization must be fixed in the hearts of our educational,
scientific, cultural, political, economic and other institutions. Human
beings are not separate from, or above, the network of nature that
includes all life species and natural resources. A spiritual definition
of Progress allows us to create the optimum physical, mental/emotional
and spiritual conditions for individual and collective actualization.
This means the meeting of basic necessities, the overcoming of dogmatic
divisions and the sustainable care of the environment for all. The
result of true progress (spiritual attainment) is the all round
advancement of humanity thereby diminishing conflict and problems as a
whole."
- What
is
"Progressive
Development"?
- How do we apply the theory
of Progressive Development to advance our Spiritual Growth? (2005
Year End)
- 8 Principles of A
Sustainable Society. (Summer 2006)
1. The use of all resources must be
maximized. We should not waste anything.
2. Control of natural resources should
be in the hands of local people and distributed in a rational way,
ensuring that people's basic needs be met first.
3. Production should be based on people's
needs, not profit.
4. For political democracy to succeed,
people must be educated.
5. There must also be economic
democracy so that everyone would have a voice in how resources were
used, and how meeting basic needs in local communities would be handled.
6. Ensuring that regional eco-systems are
protected and sustained would be the responsibility of local
governments.
7. Laws would be created to keep money
moving within the local economy, and not allow it to be siphoned off by
outside interests.
8. Everyone should be employed at a
living wage with incentives added to encourage greater service. A
maximum wage would also be established to prevent exploitation of the
many by the few, just as a minimum living wage would be established.
